Beaty's papers include a copy of his master's thesis, "The Negro boy problem of Nashville, Tennessee," notes and correspondence for his race relations class as well as one on marriage and the family, speeches, and a copy of his reminiscences. Copies of the Georgia Tech student handbook, the T Book, are also found. Beaty edited the T Book in the early 1920s and helped create the University of Florida's F Book.

Robert Colder Beaty was the University of Florida's second Dean of Students. He came to Florida in 1926 as assistant secretary for the campus YMCA after serving with the YMCA at Vanderbilt University and Georgia Tech. He accepted a position as Assistant Dean of Students in 1928 and became Dean in 1939. He served as Dean of Men from 1949 to 1955 and then Dean of Student Personnel until his retirement in 1960.
